About the event
Oriental Landscape Painting
If the oriental brush painting is a unique and shining crown, then the landscape painting is the jewel on this crown. The Chinese term for “landscape” is made up of two characters meaning “mountains and water.” It is linked with the philosophy of Daoism, which emphasizes harmony with the natural world.
Viewing oriental landscape paintings, it is clear that the oriental depictions of nature are seldom mere representations of the external world. Rather, they are expressions of the mind and heart of the individual viewers—cultivated landscapes that embody the culture and cultivation of their masters.
What Will You Learn in this Workshop
During this workshop, you will learn:
the brush strokes and techniques of painting rocks and mountains;
the process of how to outline a rock, create texture, reinforce the perspective and render the object;
how to paint trees with a particular brush technique; how to create mountains in close distance and far away;
how to paint water;
how to paint objects in the distance, for example people on a boat.
At the end of the workshop, we will put everything we have learned and create a Mountain Water Landscape painting following a step by step demonstration by the side.
